SPEAKING...

At first it may seem difficult to speak because your tongue has to learn where your teeth are. Try reading aloud to yourself for short periods during the first few days to help get used to speaking with dentures, while taking occasional sips of water from a glass, to keep your mouth from feeling dry. You shouldn't feel embarrassed about speaking; others are less aware of the awkwardness than you are. Small changes become much more noticeable to you as your own voice sounds different to you than it does to others because the sound reaches your ears by means of vibrations in the bones of your jaw and skull, while others only hear the sound that travels through the air.
